Abstract

The purpose of this project is to install new high mast lighting at the interchange of Interstate 59 (I-59) and State Route (SR) 136 in the city of Trenton, Georgia (Figure 1). The existing typical section of I-59 consists of four 12-foot travel lanes, two in each direction, with a 64-foot depressed grass median, 2-foot inside shoulder and 10-foot outside shoulder. Existing Right of Way (ROW) along I-59 ranges between 300 and 694 feet. The proposed project length is approximately 0.7 miles, starting 1,000 feet south of the northbound exit ramp and ending approximately 1,000 feet north of the southbound exit ramp. The proposed project will consist of geotechnical work (drilling, soil samples, etc.), laying foundations for the high mast poles, and installing all new high mast lighting and associated systems. The typical section will not change from existing, no work is being done to the roadway, and all work will be done with in existing ROW. No additional ROW, temporary or permanent easements are expected.
