Abstract

Athens-Clarke County plans to upgrade the existing Cedar Creek Water Reclamation Facility by adding aeration basins, settling tanks, and other improvements on the south side of the facility. The proposed improvements will take place within a roughly triangular shaped tract that covers approximately 3.2 acres. Recognizing that the improvements may require a federal permit, which would require compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966 (as amended), Athens-Clarke County sponsored an archeological survey of the property. The survey established that the project area has been extensively disturbed by previous construction and that no archeological sites will be affected by the undertaking.
