Abstract

The proposed work will take place at an existing Ferry Dock on the Savannah River at the Savannah International Trade and Convention Center in Chatham County (Figure 1). The existing dock is used as Ferry access for mass transit across the Savannah River. This project is for emergency repairs to correct damage sustained to the existing Ferry Dock during Hurricane Matthew. The project area consists of 240 feet of concrete floating panels in two sections measuring 110 feet by 20 feet and 130 feet by 10 feet. The proposed work includes repairing or replacing in-kind the floating concrete panels, replacing the existing 50 foot ramp with a 80 foot ADA compliant ramp, and repair or replace the existing utility lines and service points on the deck. The existing piles will be retained so no pile driving operations will be necessary. Work will be done from a barge.
