Addendum Phase I Archaeological Survey for Stream Restoration, Interstate (I)-75 at State Route (SR) 156/Red Bud Road Interchange Improvements, Gordon County, Georgia

The original project description for PI 610750, under construction, has not changed. The project would widen and reconstruct SR 156/Red Bud Road beginning on the west side of 1-75, just west of the intersection of Curtis Parkway/Warrior Path, and extending east beneath 1-75 to just west of the intersection of SR 156 with Harmony Church Road/South Moss Road. SR 156 would be widened to provide two through lanes eastbound and two through lanes westbound with a 14-foot flush median. Left tum lanes would be provided eastbound and westbound on SR 156 for access to the I -7 5 entrance ramps. The widening of SR 156 would necessitate replacement of the 1-75 bridge over SR 156 with a bridge sufficient to span the proposed widening. Also required is realignment and reconstruction of all four 1-75 interchange ramps. Sidewalks would be constructed on both sides of SR 156 through the proposed project limits. The project would also include construction of the Conference Drive Extension. The Conference Drive Extension would connect Conference Drive to Harmony Church Road northeast of the 1-75/SR 156 interchange.

On February 4, 2016, the Georgia Department of Natural Resources Environmental Protection Division issued Executive Consent Order EPD-WQ-8007, for buffer impacts associated perennial stream 5 (PS5). GDOT submitted a Corrective Action Plan (CAP) dated March 18, 2016 to address the necessary restoration efforts and construction schedule to address the impacts to buffer where the PS 5-Crossing 1 was diverted from the existing drainage structure to the newly constructed drainage structure, near ST A. 23+00. The project would restore the buffer at PS5-Crossing 1 south of SR 156 and west of Harmony Church Road. The project would require additional.043 acre of permanent easement.
