Environmental Corporation of America (ECA) has completed an Archaeological Assessment for the federal undertaking at the subject site. The proposed undertaking would include a proposed 10-foot by 10-foot (3-meter by 3-meter) area that would include a 54-foot overall height pole structure. The subject site is located at 41h Street and Walton Way, Augusta, Richmond County, Georgia.
This Archaeological Assessment was conducted in order to ascertain whether the proposed undertaking on the project site might directly or indirectly affect cultural resources, if any such resources exist. Through our review of available cultural records and databases, we found seven previously recorded sites (9RI9, 9RI148, 9RI157, 9RI I65, 9RI432, 9RI435, and 9RII I67) and eleven previously recorded archaeological surveys (36, 432, 556, 869, 1507, 5562, 8160, 8262, 8788, 8965, and 9504) and eleven previously recorded archaeological surveys (36, 432, 556, 869, 1507, 5562, 8160, 8262, 8788, 8965, and 9504) within our standard 1-mile background research radius. None of the previously recorded archaeological sites or surveys were within the
APE for direct effects. During the course of the field survey portion of this archaeological assessment, no archaeological cultural resources were encountered.
We conclude that the undertaking would not affect any historic or prehistoric archaeological resources that arc listed in or eligible for listing in the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). Therefore, for archaeological cultural resources, we recommend a finding of No Effect for the proposed undertaking at the project site.
