Abstract

Greenhouse CONSULTANTS incorporated completed a Phase I archaeological survey of the approximately 70+ acre Ridgeline Property Group. Highway 53 project development property in Braselton, Jackson County, Georgia. The purpose of this investigation was to identify cultural resources within the project area and to evaluate those resources against the criteria for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). Fieldwork for this investigation was undertaken during December 2016. A separate architectural survey is presently underway.

No previously documented archaeological sites, National Register properties, nor historic sites were recorded within the direct project Area of Potential Effect (APE). Our project field investigations documented two archaeological sites, three isolated finds, fifteen historic structures (eighteen total), including one historic farm site. In addition, five additional structures were identified in the vicinity of the project parcel. We recommend no further work for any of the archaeological sites nor for any of the isolated finds.

Following the archaeological field survey and report a historic structures survey was undertaken during March 2017 and completed April 2017 to comply with regulatory agency comments. All identified structures and the farm complex is documented in this report.
