The proposed work consists of equipment upgrades, pedestrian accommodations and updating pedestrian facilities to meet Americans with Disabilities Act standards at seven intersections along State Route (SR) 10/Broad Street in Athens, Clarke County, Georgia. The seven intersections along SR 10/Broad Street are: Newton Street, Pulaski Street, Hull Street, Lumpkin Street, College Avenue, Jackson Street, and Thomas Street (Figure 1). Work may include setback loop detectors and curb cuts at each intersection. Areas of required right-of-way (ROW) and easement (25ft - 100ft) are proposed for the relocation of mast arms and utility boxes at five intersections.
Project Changes: Since the original survey in 2016, the project length was reduced from 0.6 miles to 0.55 miles and required ROW and easements were refined and reduced throughout the corridor (Figures 3a-b). One new easement was added for the reconstruction of a retaining wall at the intersection of SR I 0 and Pulaski Street.
