Abstract

ln compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966 and amendments thereto, project NH-002-4 (25), Putnam County has been surveyed with respect to archaeological resources, especially those on or eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). The purpose of the survey was to locate, identify and evaluate the significance of any archaeological resources within the proposed project's area of potential environmental effect. The proposed project would consist of the reconstruction and signalization R 24/US 441 Business and Washington Avenue in the city of Eaton on. This project will require the acqu1s1 Ion of approximately 0.101 km (0.063 mi) additional right-of-way. This project also includes the upgrading of the existing signals at the three intersections along SR 24/US 441. These include: Washington Avenue, Marion Street, and Sumter Street. An archaeological survey consistent with the project description was conducted along the entire project corridor.
