Abstract

R.S. Webb & Associates conducted a Phase I cultural resources survey of the proposed TPA Tech Park in Norcross, Gwinnett County, Georgia, on June 12 through 26, 2012. The study was conducted on behalf of Wetland & Ecological Consultants LLC of Woodstock, Georgia, to locate and identify cultural resources within the project's Area of Potential Effects and assess resource significance based on National Register of Historic Places criteria [36 CFR Part 60.4]. The footprint of the TPA Tech Park covers approximately 8.1 hectares (ha) (20.1 acres). The project area consists of a 3.9-ha tract on the northwest side of Highway 141, and a 4.2-ha tract on the southeast side of the highway. The Phase I cultural resources survey included a literature review and an intensive field survey. During the literature review, state and county records, maps, and documents were examined to determine if previously recorded archeological sites or historic structures are located in or near the project area. Using surface and subsurface techniques, the field survey was conducted to identify and record cultural resources within the study area. Results Literature Review: The literature search found that no previously recorded archeological sites or historic structures have been recorded in or adjacent to the project area. Cultural Resources Field Survey: The intensive field survey did not locate any archeological sites, historic structures, or isolated artifact finds within the project area. Recommended Treatments: No additional cultural resources work is warranted for this project. Cultural resource clearance is recommended for the proposed TPA Tech Park project area.
