Abstract

Environmental Corporation of America (ECA) has completed an Archaeological Assessment for the federal undertaking at the subject site. The subject site includes a proposed approximate 100-foot by 100-foot (30-meter by 30-meter) telecommunications facility, an approximate 280-foot long by 30-foot wide (85-meter by 9-meter) access/utility easement, and three proposed approximate 190-foot long by 20-foot wide (58-meter by 6-meter) guy wire easements. The proposed telecommunications facility would include a 290-foot (overall height) guyed-type telecommunications structure, and associated ground level support equipment. The subject site is located at 1491 Graball Road, Tignall, Lincoln County, Georgia. This archaeological assessment was conducted in order to ascertain whether the proposed undertaking might directly or indirectly affect cultural resources, if any such resources exist. Through our review of available cultural records and databases, five previously recorded archaeological sites (9LC382 through 9LC386) and one archaeological survey reports (1957) were identified within a 3/4-mile background research radius, but outside the APE for direct effects. During the course of the field survey portion of this archaeological assessment no archaeological sites were identified. ECA believes that the proposed undertaking would have no effect on any historic or prehistoric archaeological resources that are listed in or eligible for listing in the National Register of Historic Places. Based on our findings related to archaeological resources, we recommend no further consultation under Section 106 Review of the National Historic Preservation Act for this proposed undertaking.
