Abstract

Environmental Corporation of America (ECA) has completed an Archaeological Assessment for the federal undertaking at the subject site. The subject site includes a proposed approximate 120-foot long by 80-foot wide (37-meter by 24-meter) lease area and an approximate 1,046-foot long by 30-foot wide (319-meter by 9-meter) access/utility easement. Approximately 966 feet (294 meters) of the access/utility easement follows an existing paved drive and the remaining 55 feet (17 meters) of access/utility easement is located in a previously disturbed graded area. The proposed telecommunications facility would include a 255-foot (overall height) tall self supporting lattice telecommunications structure and associated ground level support equipment. The subject site is located at 6603 Spout Springs Road, Flowery Branch, Hall County, Georgia. This archaeological assessment was conducted in order to ascertain whether the proposed undertaking might directly or indirectly affect cultural resources, if any such resources exist. Through our review of available cultural records and databases, one previously identified site (9HL591) and no surveys were identified within a 1-mile background research radius, but outside the APE for direct effects. During the course of the field survey portion of this archaeological assessment no archaeological sites were identified. ECA believes that the proposed undertaking would have no effect on any historic or prehistoric archaeological resources that are listed in or eligible for listing in the National Register of Historic Places. Based on our findings related to archaeological resources, we recommend no further consultation under Section 106 Review of the National Historic Preservation Act for this proposed undertaking.
