Abstract

The Chattooga River Ranger District (RD) of the Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forests is proposing to harvest timber in Rabun County, Georgia on 85 acres in Compartment 28 using a commercial timber contract. Surveys were conducted of these 85 acres and an additional 61 acres in the immediate vicinity of the proposed undertaking in May 2012. A total of seven archaeological sites were recorded, with six of these assessed as not eligible for inclusion on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) and one with an undetermined NRHP status. This site, 9RA436, will be protected from all project related activities.
