Abstract

The proposed project would consist of upgrading pedestrian facilities at various locations throughout District 6. These upgrades would consist of the installation of pedestal poles with pedestrian countdown signals and push button stations which tie into the existing signal timing, as well as sidewalks, curb cut ramps, pedestrian warning signs, raised concrete islands, ADA ramps, and crosswalks.

The initial project proposal was for upgrades to seven locations in Bartow, Floyd, Gordon, and Haralson Counties. These locations were cleared archaeologically by Luke Erickson in 2004. Following this, three additional intersections in Catoosa, Floyd, and Carroll Counties were added to the project area. These locations were surveyed and cleared by Eric Duff in 2007. In August 2014, the project was revised to remove four intersections and an additional intersection was removed from the project area in December 2014. The five locations now included in the project area listed below:

In the most recent project revision transmitted on April 15, 2015, the proposed work at the intersection of SR 101 and Wax Road in Floyd County was modified. Proposed work at this intersection now includes a right turn lane from Wax Road westbound onto SR 101 northbound. The turn lane would require an additional 12,133.93 square feet of new right-of-way (ROW) (Figure 2). All other work at this intersection will be completed within existing ROW.
