The proposed safety project would consist of a bridge foundation inspection of GDOT Bridge ID#139-5085-0 located at SR 347/Friendship Road over Norfolk Southern #717815K. The process would consist of drilling 4-inch holes through the bridge deck and into the ground. One lane on SR 347/Friendship Road would be closed for inspection; however, no traffic detour would be required. All work would be completed within the existing right-of-way (ROW) of the Norfolk Southern Railroad. The area of potential effects for this survey was included in a previous survey conducted for PI 170735. PI 170735 was originally surveyed in August 2005 by GDOT. Then, the project was reassessed again by GDOT archaeologist in December 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2009. Since that time, the bridge foundation on SR 347/Friendship Road over Norfolk Southern #717815K has become questionable and a bridge inspection is needed.
