Abstract

New South Associates conducted a Phase I archaeological survey of the proposed widening and improvements to Bettes Tribble Gap Road, in the City of Cumming, Forsyth County, Georgia on November 23, 1999. The corridor features a right-of-way of 100 feet and extends approximately 1.16 miles between Main Street/SR 206 and Sawnee Drive/SR 306. The corridor is located within the city limits of Cumming and the results of development on the soils were apparent. Subsoil was found at the surface or below the grass throughout the corridor, indicating soil erosion and the accompanying destruction of the archaeological context. No archaeological sites were found. No further study of the Bettes Tribble Gap Road corridor is recommended.
