Abstract

The proposed project would widen SR 282 in Ellijay beginning at a point approximately 485 meters (1600 feet) west of the Coosawattee River then continuing easterly to an end point at CR 193. Also, the proposed project would include improvements to the SR 282 and SR 5 Alternate intersection located just west of the Coosawattee River. A portion of the widening will be shifted away from the Cartecay River due to its close proximity to the existing road. The existing right-of-way on SR 282 is approximately 30 meters (100 feet), while the additional required right-of-way will be approximately 37 meters (120 feet). Total project length is just over 1.9 kilometers (1.2 miles). An archaeological survey consistent with the project description was conducted for the entire length of the project corridor.
