Abstract

The original project would construct five foot wide sidewalks on Lewis Street, Dallas Street, and Sardis Street. Since the submittal of the original archaeological survey report, two of the sidewalk improvement areas have been removed from the project description. The Sardis Street project area has been retained and revised.

The proposed project would construct eight-foot wide sidewalks on the west side of Sardis Street between Main Street and Big Shanty Drive. The project length is approximately 800 feet. The project also includes 30-inch curb and gutter, and pedestrian amenities such as ramps, crosswalk stripping, and signage. The project would be constructed in compliance with the Americans With Disabilities Act. Sidewalk construction would occur within the existing right-of-way of a planned, locally funded project to widen Sardis Street to a three lane facility. Sidewalk construction would occur after Sardis Street has been widened. The new width of Sardis Street would be approximately 75 feet. The sidewalk would end before reaching the intersection of Sardis Street and Big Shanty Drive on the north end of the project. The sidewalk would terminate at the intersection with South Main Street on the south end of the project. The right-of-way on the south end of the project is approximately 75 feet on Sardis Street, and 50 feet on South Main Street.
