Phase I Archaeological Survey of Five Intersections Along SR 139/Martin Luther King Jr. Drive in Fulton County, Georgia

Abstract

The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) plans to upgrade the traffic signals at five Intersections along SR 13Martin Luther King Jr. Drive in Fulton County, Georgia. The five intersections include SR 139 at Fairburn Road Southwest, SR 139 at CS 27n1Brownlee Road, SR 139 at 1-285 south bound ramps, SR 139 at the 1-285 north bound ramps, and SR 139 at CS 2911/Boulder Park Drive Southwest. The upgrades are needed for compliance with current GDOT standards. The improvements would include the installation of LED vehicular signals and would improve pedestrian accommodations including crosswalk striping, wheelchair ramps, and pedestrian crosswalk signals.

The work for this survey was conducted in compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966, as amended (38 CFR 800), and was intended to determine the presence of significant archaeological resources in the project's area of potential effect (APE).
