Abstract

The proposed project would consist of pedestrian infrastructure improvements along the west side of Beaver Ruin Road (State Route [SR] 378) in the vicinity of Summerour Middle School in the City of Norcross in Gwinnett County. This proposed project is designed to provide improved pedestrian access and safety, and encourage students to walk or bike to school within a 2-mile radius of Summerour Middle School by providing a multi-use trail, upgrades to the existing crossings, and a pedestrian hybrid signal. The proposed project would extend from the intersection of Beaver Ruin Road (SR 378) and Indian Trail Road and run northwest to the intersection of Beaver Ruin Road (SR 378) and Price Place, just south of Buford Highway (SR 13), for a distance of approximately 1.5 miles. The existing right-of-way (ROW) along the project corridor varies from the edge of pavement (EOP) to 52 feet from the EOP. The proposed ROW varies from no ROW needed to 76 feet from EOP.
