Abstract

During the period of August 9 through 17, 2012, R.S. Webb & Associates (RSWA) conducted a Phase I Cultural Resources Survey of proposed improvement areas at Thomasville Regional Airport in Thomas County, Georgia. The improvements will include the extension of runways/taxi areas and associated runway protection zones (RPZ), the installation of a Medium Intensity Approach Lighting System, and the construction of a new hanger. The project includes three areas totaling 85.5 acres (Figure 1). Area A is 74 acres and is composed of 46 acres of airport property adjacent to Runway 22 and 28 acres of privately owned land at the northeast end of the airport. Lawhorne Road runs east-west through Area A. Area B is approximately 5.5 acres adjacent to Runway 4 at the southwest end of the airport. Area C is a 6-acre proposed hangar extension area on the southeast side of the terminal complex.
