Phase I Cultural Resources Survey of the SML and SM Loop Class Change, Muscogee County, Georgia

Abstract

The week of April 1, 2013, Brockington and Associates (Brockington) completed a background literature review and field investigations for a Phase I Cultural Resources Survey (CRS) for a pipeline construction project in Muscogee County, Georgia (Figure 1). This project is part of ongoing pipeline maintenance performed by Kinder Morgan. The project will take place within 1000 feet by 25 ft (304.8 meters by 70.6 m) pipeline replacement corridor; a possible 1800 ft by 100 ft (548.6 m by 30.5 m) access road corridor and approximately one acre of additional workspace were also considered (Figure 2). This undertaking is regulated by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) and requires review under Section 106 of the National HistoricPreservation Act (NHPA).
