Abstract

The proposed project is located on CR 467/Bickley Highway at the crossing of Cane Creek in Ware County, Georgia. The proposed project would begin approximately 1,230 feet west of the bridge and end approximately 1,270 feet east of the bridge. The total project length along CR 467/Bickley Highway would be approximately 2,500 feet (0.47 mile). The proposed project would also make improvements at the intersection ofCR 467/Bickley Highway and Perdie Lee Road. The proposed project length along Perdie Lee Road is approximately 300 feet. The total project length would be approximately 2,800 feet (0.53 mile).

The existing CR 467/Bickley Highway typical section contains two 11-foot travel lanes with two foot unpaved shoulders. The existing right-of-way is approximately 80 feet. The existing Perdie Lee Road is a dirt road that contains two 10-foot travel lanes with no shoulders. The existing right-of-way for Perdie Lee Road is approximately 50 feet. The existing CR 467/Bickley Highway bridge over Cane Shoal Creek is approximately 105 feet long and 26.3 feet wide. The bridge contains two 12-foot travel lanes with one-foot shoulders.

The proposed CR 467/Bickley Highway typical section would be two 12-foot travel lanes with 10-foot shoulders (two feet paved and eight feet grassed). The proposed right-of-way would vary from 80 to 120 feet. The proposed Perdie Lee Road typical section would be two 12-foot travel lanes with four-foot shoulders. The proposed project would pave Perdie Lee Road from CR 467/Bickley Highway for approximately 300 feet. For the 300-foot paved section, the proposed right-of-way along Perdie Lee Road would be approximately 110 feet in width. The proposed bridge would be constructed approximately ten feet, centerline to centerline, north of the existing bridge. The proposed bridge would be approximately 160 feet long and 33.25 feet wide. The typical section of the proposed bridge would be two 12-foot travel lanes with three-foot shoulders.

During construction, the existing bridge would be closed and an off-site detour would be utilized. The proposed detour would utilize the following roads: CR 367/Bickley Highway, Beach Highway, CR 119, and SR 4/US 23.

The proposed project would require approximately 1.31 acres of right-of-way, 0.14 acre of temporary construction easement, and 0.03 acre of temporary driveway easement.
