Abstract

The proposed project would include bridge rehabilitation work including raising the bridges to a minimum vertical clearance of 17 feet and adjusting the roadway items to match the new bridge elevation, strengthening or replacing the caps, joint replacement, asphalt removal and new overlay on the decks, painting the steel superstructure, repair of cracks and spalls in the substructures and removal of vegetation from bridges 10 to 15 feet on either side of the structure in the existing ROW at each of the four bridge locations. The bridge structure locations include the following: (1) Structure ID 021-0037-0, Bibb County, Colaparchee Road (County Road 64) over Interstate 475 (I-475); (2) Structure ID 171-0025-0, Lamar County, High Falls Road (County Road 212) over Interstate 75 (I-75);(3) Structure ID 207-0002-0, Monroe County, Simmons Road (County Road 15) over I-75 (State Route 401); (4) Structure ID 207- 0055-0, Monroe County, I-475 NB (State Route 408 NB) over I-75 (State Route 401). The new toe of slope would not exceed the existing toe by more than 20 feet along Colarparchee Road (Site No. 1) and High Falls Road (Site No. 2); would not exceed the existing toe by more than 10 feet along Simmons Road. (Site No. 3); and would not exceed existing toe by more than 5 feet on I-475 (Site No. 4). The project would replace or extend existing drainage structures within the project limits and replace rip-rap at the drainage outlets. The project limits at the bridge sites would not extend more than 600 feet beyond the ends of each bridge. Any side roads or driveways within these limits would be adjusted to tie into the mainline alignment. The side roads tie-in would extend approximately 100 feet and the driveways would be adjusted approximately 30 feet.
