Abstract

The proposed project would replace the existing substandard bridge on State Route (SR) 219/River Road over Schley Creek northwest of Columbus in Muscogee County, Georgia. The project begins approximately 1 mile north of the SR 219/Biggers Road intersection and ends approximately .10 mile south of the SR 219/Schley Road intersection for a total project length of approximately .50 mile. The existing bridge is 240 feet in total length, and consists of 2 lanes, 12 feet in width with 2-foot outside shoulders at the bridge approach and a deck width of 28 feet. The proposed bridge would be 300 feet in total length, and consist of 21anes, 12 feet in width with an 8-foot paved shoulder and a deck width of 43.25 feel The new design would also include a 1.625-foot barrier. The existing right-of-way (ROW) ranges from 60 feet to 130 feet throughout the project area. The required ROW will range from 90 feet to 185 feet throughout the project area. No easements or detours are planned, all work will take place within the required ROW.
