Abstract

The proposed project would replace the existing structurally deficient bridge, Structure 10 145-5032-0, on County Road (CR) 215 (Fortune Hole Road) over Williams Creek, approximately 4 miles southeast of Hamilton, Georgia. The project begins approximately 3 miles east of the U.S. Hwy 27/0id College Street intersection and approximately .40 miles west of the Winfree Road intersection; the proposed project limits extend 320 feet west of Williams Creek and 280 feet east for a total project length of approximately 600 feet. The existing bridge is 80 feet in total length, and consists of 1 lane (one direction) 10 feet in length with a 2-foot shoulder at the bridge approach and a deck width of 24 feet gutter-to-gutter. The existing bridge has a structural sufficiency rating of 26.2, which makes it unfit for safe vehicular use. The proposed replacement bridge would be 150 feet in total length (three 50-foot spans), and consist of 1 lane (one direction) 11 feet in length with a 6-foot shoulder at the bridge approach and a deck width of 34 feet gutter-to-gutter. The new design would also include a 1.625-foot barrier. The existing right-of-way (ROW) is 70 feet; 35 feet on each side of the highway centerline. The required ROW is 90 feet; 35 feet north of the centerline and 55 feet south of the centerline No easements or detours are planned, all work will take place within the required ROW.
