Abstract

The project is located on Interstate 75 (1-75) at Peachtree Creek in Atlanta, Fulton County, Georgia. The proposed project would replace the existing washed out drainage 36" RCP pipe discharging along the southern bank of Peachtree Creek along the northbound outside shoulder of 1-75. Work would include replacement of the pipe and associated manhole and outlet structures. Approximately 7,457 square feet of additional right-of-way (ROW) is proposed. The area of potential effect for this project includes the existing and required ROW on the south bank of Peachtree Creek under and adjacent to the east side of the 1-17 bridge. Due to the nature and scope of the proposed undertaking, the 100-ft. expanded survey corridor (ESC) was not surveyed for this project.

No previously recorded archaeological sites are located within the project APE and 1 previously recorded site is located within 1 km of the project (Figure 3). Site 9FU628 is a pre-contact and historic artifact scatter located approximately 850 meters southwest of the project APE. The site was recommended ineligible for the NRHP. No previous archaeological surveys have been conducted within the project APE.
