Abstract

The proposed project would improve the existing railroad grade crossing at Musselwhite Road/CR 117 over the Norfolk Southern Railway near the City of Arabi, Georgia in Crisp County. The project would include the installation of train activated warning devices in the form of gates, flashing lights, bell s, standard roadway signs and safety markings on existing pavement. All work will take place within the existing right-of-way; no new right-of-way or easements will be required. Pursuant to the September 2007 Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Federal Highway Administration (FHW A), the State Historic Preservation Officer of the Georgia Department of Natural Resources (SHPO), and the Georgia Department of Transportation, this project is considered an undertaking as defined in 36 CFR 800. 16(y), however, it has been determined there is no potential to affect historic properties included in or considered eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places.
