Abstract

"In compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966 and amendments thereto, project BRF- a68-1 (18), Long-Tattnall has been surveyed with respect to archaeological resources, especially those on or eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP).

The purpose of the survey was to locate, identify and evaluate the significance of any archaeological resources within the project corridor.

This project is the replacement of five bridges on U.S. 301 over Jones Creek, Fletcher Branch, Back Swamp, Pigott Branch, and Beard’s Creek. The dimensions for the bridge replacements are:

Jones Creek- 2000’ by 66’ and 100’; Fletcher Branch- 1500’ by 100’; Back Swamp- 1500’ by 100’; Beards Creek- 3000’ by 100’ and 200’; and Pigott Branch- 1500’ by 100’.
