Abstract

"In compliance with Section I 06 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966 and amendments thereto, project STP-00 1-1 {62) in Lowndes County, has been surveyed with respect to archaeological resources, especially those on or eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP).

The purpose of the survey was to locate, identify and evaluate the significance of any archaeological resources within the proposed project's area of potential environmental effect.

The proposed project would improve the existing four-lane section on State Route 7/U.S. 41 from 43 meters north of Gil Harbin Industrial Boulevard (MP 15.2) to 125 meters south of the bridge over State

Route 401 (MP 24.66) for a distance of 15.2 kilometers. From the beginning of the project at Log 0.00 to

Log 8.19 the roadway will be rotomilled, leveled and resurfaced. From Log 8.19 to log 15.20 the proposed project would pave 0.61 meter of the existing inside shoulders. This section will then be leveled and resurfaced. No additional right-of-way will be needed to complete this project.
