Abstract

"In compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966 and amendments thereto, project NH-001-4(63) Spalding County, has been surveyed with respect to archaeological resources, especially those on or eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP).

The purpose of the survey was to locate, identify and evaluate the significance of any archaeological resources within the proposed project's area of potential environmental effect.

The original proposed project would upgrade and reconstruct the interchange at US 19 and SR 362 in

Spalding County. Left turn lanes will be constructed for east and west bound vehicles on SR 362 as well as improvements of the radii at the US 19/SR 362 interchange. Existing right-of-way varies from 50 to 160 feet. Additional required right-of-way will vary from 15 to 20 feet. An archaeological survey consistent with the project description was conducted for the entire 0.36 mile length of the project corridor. Revised plans call for the relocation of Justice Road approximately 150 feet to the east of the present location.
