Abstract

"In compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966 and amendments thereto, project RS-1759(3), Habersham and White Counties, has been surveyed with respect to archaeological resources, especially those on or eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). The purpose of the survey was to locate, identify, and evaluate the significance of any archaeological resources within the project corridor.

The proposed project would add climbing/passing lanes to the existing two-lanes for approximately 2.03 miles on State Route 384 near the Chattahoochee River in Habersham and White Counties. An eastbound lane would be added in Habersham County from CR 342 to the Chattahoochee River (approximately 1.08 miles); a westbound lane would be added in White County from the Chattahoochee River to CR 9 (approximately 0.95 miles). The existing 60 feet of right-of-way would be widened to 80 feet. An archaeological survey consistent with the project boundaries was conducted.
