Abstract

"In compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966 and amendments thereto, project STP-BRF-129-1(23), Turner County, has been surveyed with respect to archaeological resources, especially those on or eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). The purpose of the survey was to locate, identify and evaluate the significance of any archaeological resources within the proposed project's area of potential environmental effect.

The proposed project would consist of the replacement of the bridge on SR 112 over Daniels Creek just southwest of the city of Ashburn. Existing right-of-way is approximately 100ft. Additional required right-of- way would be approximately 25ft on the each side of SR 112. Also included would be a temporary easement on the east side of SR 112 measuring approximately 525ft in length and 30ft in width to accommodate an on-site detour. An archaeological survey consistent with the project description was conducted along the entire project corridor.
