Abstract

"In compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966 and amendments thereto, project CSSTP-M003-00(317), Whitfield/Murray County, has been surveyed with respect to archeological resources, especially those on or eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). The purpose of the survey was to locate, identify and evaluate the significance of any archeological resources within the proposed project 's area of potential environmental effect.

The proposed project is a maintenance project that would mill and resurface the existing pavement, install rumble strips and construct 2' paved shoulders on SR 286 in Whitfield/Murray Counties. Beginning in Whitfield County at its intersection with SR 52 (M.P. 0.00), the project will end at the SR 2/SR 186 intersection in Murray County (5 .05). All work will take place within the existing right-of-way with no new right-of-way required. Total project length is approximately 10.04 miles.
