In compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966 and amendments thereto, project IR-16-1(92), Bibb County has been surveyed with respect to archaeological resources, especially those on or eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). The purpose of the survey was to locate, identify and evaluate the significance of any archaeological resources within the project corridor.
The proposed project consists of ramp improvements and construction on I-16 between Spring Street and Second Street, and between Spring Street and Coliseum Drive. The segment between Spring Street and
Second Street occurs north of I-16 and the segment between Spring Street and Coliseum Drive occurs on the south side of I-16. A project corridor 500 feet wide by 1.25 miles was surveyed.
