Abstract

In compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966 and amendments thereto, project FR-004-3(33), McDuffie County has been surveyed with respect to archaeological resources, especially those on or eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). The purpose of the survey was to locate, identify and evaluate the significance of any archaeological resources within the project corridor.

This project proposes to widen and reconstruct S.R. 12 west of Thompson from west of C. R. 143 easterly to the existing curb and gutter section in Thompson, a distance of 2.3 miles. Existing right-of-way is 100 feet and an additional 30 feet will be required south of the existing alignment. A survey consistent with the proposed corridor was conducted.
