Abstract

Archeological Assessment of a Lincoln County Resurfacing Project. This proposed project consists of milling, resurfacing and constructing 2' paved shoulders on SR 79 beginning at its intersection with SR 43 and ending at the Elbert County Line. All work will take place within the existing right-of-way, with no new right-of-way required. Total project length is approximately 18.63 miles.

The proposed project is a maintenance project that would mill and resurface existing pavement, and construct 2 foot paved shoulders on SR 79 in Lincoln County from the intersection with SR 43 (MP 0.00) to the Elbert County line (MP 18.63). The total project length is approximately 18.63 miles. All work would be completed within existing right of way. The existing shoulders would be scarified to a depth of 4 inches with scarifier spacing of a 6 inch maximum. The existing earth shoulders would be reconstructed at variable depth as required to provide a smooth grade from the new edge of pavement elevation to the existing earth shoulders. The fill shall be placed over the scarified area without any additional work.
