Environmental Corporation of America (ECA) has completed an Archaeological Assessment for the federal undertaking at the subject site. The proposed undertaking would include three proposed approximate 8-foot by 8-foot (2-meter by 2-meter) pole sites that would each include a proposed steel pole measuring between 35 to 55-foot tall for radar antennas. The radar antennas would be located 16 inches above each pole. The proposed subject site is located at 748 Douglas Hills Road, Lithia Springs, Douglas County, Georgia.
This archaeological assessment was conducted in order to ascertain whether the proposed undertaking, on the project site, might directly or indirectly affect cultural resources, if any such resources exist. During our database research, we found fourteen previously recorded archaeological sites (9DO166, 9DO167, 9DO168, 9DO169, 9DO208, 9DO210, 9DO211, 9DO221, 9DO222, 9DO223, 9CO404, 9CO424, 9CO751, and 9CO776) and six survey reports (800, 2878, 6322, 7884, 8019, and 8077) within our standard 1-mile background research radius. None of the surveys were identified within our project’s APE for direct effects. During the course of the field survey portion of this archaeological assessment, no archaeological cultural resources were encountered.
We conclude that the undertaking would not affect any historic or prehistoric archaeological resources that are listed in or eligible for listing in the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). Therefore, for archaeological cultural resources, we recommend a finding of No Effect for the proposed undertaking at the project site.
