Abstract

In compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966 and amendments thereto, project BRZLB-047(4), Catoosa County has been surveyed with respect to archaeological resources, especially those on or eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). The purpose of the survey was to locate, identify and evaluate the significance of any archaeological resources within the project corridor.

This project proposes to relocate on new location the bridge on C.R. 179 over Little Chickamauga Creek approximately 1500 feet downstream (north) of the existing facility. In conjunction with this would be the relocation and extension of Holocomb Road/ C.R. 170 from just west of S.R. 151 eastward to C.R. 259, a distance of approximately 1.3 miles. A right-of-way of 80 feet will be required. An archaeological survey consistent with the proposed corridor was conducted.
