Abstract

In compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966 and amendments thereto and the Georgia Environmental Policy Act (GEPA), project PR-8583-29(223), Paulding County has been surveyed with respect to archaeological resources, especially those on or eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). The purpose of the survey was to locate, identify and evaluate the significance of any archaeological resources within the project area. The proposed project would consist of the reconstruction of Block Road, beginning at the Dallas by-pass and extending a total of 0.458 miles to SR 6 Bus, adjacent to the Paulding Plaza Shopping Center. Approximately 500 feet of new location is required. A 100 feet right-of-way would be required. An archaeological survey consistent with the project description was conducted for the entire length of the project corridor.
