Project STPE-0012, Bulloch, Cobb, Colquitt, Effingham, Gwinnett, Henry, Lamar, Liberty, Lowndes, Muscogee, Worth Counties: Determination of No Undertaking. The subject project would consist of railroad crossing safety improvements at various locations throughout the state. While minimal grade work could be necessary at some of these crossings, these areas have been disturbed previously by the original road construction at the crossings. All other work would upgrade the existing gates, flashing lights, and bells. No acquisition of additional right-of- way would be required to implement the project. According to 36 CFR 800.2(o), an "undertaking" consists of "any project, activity, or program that can result in changes in the character or use of historic properties, if any such properties are located within the proposed project's area of potential effects. This project does not have the potential to result in changes to the character or use of any historic properties, therefore, the subject project does not constitute an undertaking. This finding fulfills the Department's requirements under Section 106.
