Abstract

This project consists of intersection improvements at State Route (SR) 12/Covington Highway at County Road (CR) 5190/S Hairston Road. The existing typical section of SR 12/Covington Highway consists of 4-lane roadway (12-foot travel lanes) with two way left tum lanes, curb and gutter, and 5-foot sidewalks. The existing typical section of CR 5190/S Hairston Road consists of 4-lane roadway (12-foot travel lanes) with auxiliary lanes, curb and gutter, raised median and 5-foot sidewalks. The proposed project would include, mill, overlay, and restriping of eastbound SR 12/Covington Highway with smaller lane widths to include dual left turns lanes to accommodate high left-turning movement counts. In addition, westbound Covington Highway includes curb and gutter, a 5-foot sidewalk and restriped crosswalk. The existing Right-of-Way (ROW) measures 102 feet. The project will take place within existing ROW. An Environmental Survey Boundary (ESB) was provided for this project. The ESB is intended to encompass all potential design changes for the proposed project.
