The purpose of this project is to provide an assessment of the cultural materials recovered from previously inundated sites located within the Carter's Lake Project lands during the 2014 emergency draw down of the reregulation pool located at the southwestern end of Carter's lake, Murray County, Georgia. Artifacts were analyzed in support of the Carter's lake Historic Preservation Management Plan (HPMP} update per requirements outlined in Section 110 of the National Historic Preservation Act. This project was designed and conducted under Contract W91278-15-D-0046, Task Order 0005, between the United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Mobile District, and SEARCH. SEARCH completed three primary tasks. These included background research, detailed analysis of all artifacts recovered during the field collection project, and preparation of this document. The background research included synthesizing historic and environmental information for the immediate area around the sites, and compiling information on prior archaeological work conducted in the Carter's lake area. Finally, recommendations for site management and pathways forward for additional research were written.
