Abstract

In compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966 and amendments thereto, project FR-093-1(30)(31), Colquitt County, has been surveyed with respect to archaeological resources, especially those on or eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places (NHRP). The purpose of the survey was to locate, identify, and evaluate the significance of any archaeological resources within the project corridor. The proposed project would provide a borrow pit/ wetland mitigation site for the construction of the proposed widening of US 319/ S.R. 35 southeast of Moultrie, GA. The proposed borrow pit would be located east of the highway and southwest of Okapilco Creek. The proposed site would contain approximately 5 acres. An archaeological survey consistent with the proposed project boundaries was conducted.
