Abstract

The following chapters report the findings of the 2018 archaeological survey. Chapter 2 provides the necessary context for the project with an overview of the environmental and cultural setting of the survey area, previous investigations and known resources within the project vicinity, and the research design guiding the Phase I investigation. Methods are described in Chapter 3, including field methods and the criteria used for evaluating the NRHP eligibility of identified sites. Chapter 4 presents the results of the archaeological survey to date, including descriptions of archaeological resources encountered in the survey area, site maps, and photographs of sites and cultural mate­rial from those sites, and evaluations of the site eligibility. Finally, the report’s findings are sum­marized, research questions are addressed, and resource management recommendations are made in Chapter 5. Appendix A provides copies of all state site forms for recorded sites. Appendix B is the resume of the Principal Investigator. Appendix C is the example of the landowner notifica­tion letters used for the project. The plans for the project are included as Appendix D. All project records and related materials, including field notes, photographs, and other records, will be curated at the Office of Environmental Services, Georgia Department of Transportation, Atlanta, Georgia.
