The purpose of this project is to replace two structurally deficient steel deck bridges on CR 196/Mt. Airy Road over Ossahatchie Creek in Harris County, Georgia (Figure 1). Originally, this project was a candidate for the Low Impact Bridge Program (LIBP); however, the project has since been removed from the LIBP due a lack of sufficient existing Right-of-Way (ROW) to replace the bridge. The existing Right-of-Way (ROW) measures approximately 60 feet. The project is now state funded as a result of its removal from the LIBP program. The project was originally surveyed in September 2016 for archaeological resources as part of the Low Impact Bridge Program and identified sites 9HS519 and 9HS520. As a result of needing additional ROW, a new Environmental Survey Boundary (ESB) intended to encompass all potential design alternatives for the proposed project changes was surveyed in February 2018. The addendum survey revised the boundary for 9HS519 and fully delineated 9HS520. Since that time, the project has increased project limits to the north by approximately 50 feet beyond previous survey coverage. The ESB has been extended to cover the new project limits.
