Abstract

A cultural resource survey and review has been completed for 272 acres of the Chattahoochee National Forest. A total of 156 acres of the 272 acres were surveyed for the current project. This includes portions of Compartments 208, 210, 215, 216, and 217 in the Lake Russell Wildlife Management Area, which is cooperatively managed by the Georgia Department of Natural Resources. Within those five compartments, nine pine stands were identified for the commercial thinning project along with a road widening of Guard Camp/Sellers Road. One new pre-contact site (9HM309) and two historic sites (9HM310 and 9HM311) were recorded during this current survey.
