The proposed project on SR 178 would begin at SR 147 (MP 2.79) then continue southeasterly to an end point at SR 121 (MP 14.16). All work will be restricted to within the SR 178 existing right-of-way; no required right-of-way or easements will be needed for project implementation.
Pursuant to the September 2007 Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Federal Highway Administration (FHW A), the State Historic Preservation Officer of the Georgia Department of Natural Resources (SHPO), and the Georgia Department of Transportation, this project is considered an undertaking as defined in 36 CFR 800.16(y), however, it has been determined there is no potential to affect historic properties included in or considered eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places.
