Abstract

The project proposes to replace Bridge # 255-0012-0 on State Road (SR) 16 over the Flint River in Spalding County, located 8 miles west of Griffin, Georgia and about 3.3 miles southeast of Brooks, Georgia (Figure 1). The existing bridge carries 2 lanes and measures 380 feet in length and 34.4 feet in width. It was originally constructed in 1960 and is a stringer type with steel construction and standard concrete railings two rails high. The bridge consists of three main steel spans and five approach spans of Reinforced Concrete Deck Girders, as well as 150’ long steel stringers over the river. The existing right-of-way width measures 70 feet, and the proposed ROW is 170 feet.
