Abstract

This is the investigation of a mound in a proposed weight station area near Uchee Creek on I-20 in Columbia County. The project was originally supposed to miss the mound, but has been revised to take it. The mound Is 10-15 feet high and rises sharply above the surrounding land. It is about 60 feet in diameter. The west face is much more pronounced than the east, which grades into a low, flat ridge. The entire surface of the mound is covered in quartz and quartile---both cobble and crushed.
