Abstract

The purpose of project CSBRG-0007-00(055) is to replace the existing bridge on State Route (SR) 180 over Slaughter Creek in Union County, 9.5 miles south of Blairsville. The existing bridge was constructed in 1931 and has a sufficiency rating of 56.4. This project will replace the existing bridge with a structurally adequate bridge in the same location. Staged construction will be used during construction reducing the bridge to a one lane signalized roadway for local traffic and pedestrians/bikes. An off-site detour will be used during construction of the bridge for large vehicles. The existing roadway is a two-lane rural section road with 10-foot travel lanes and is functionally classified as a Rural Major Collector. The new bridge will have an approximate length of 100 feet with a 38.5-foot wide out to out. Replacing the bridge will bring it up to current design standards.
